"This piece is a whimsical take on the word "Go," - a word that has now been fused with the traditional Campbell's soup logo that adorns the playful packaging for its newest product. Inspired by the expanding need for our meals to keep up with our busy lifestyles, this image turns the idea on its head. Consider the irony of food so well designed for fast-paced, convenient consumption, that it actually beats us in the footrace of our own schedules."
I recently finished the painting above as a commission for an artshow produced jointly by Campbell's Soup and Buzzfeed Food. It celebrated the debut of Campbell's Go, a new take on Campbell's soup for the modern, busy world. The terms of the commission were that the artist gather inspiration from the product - and basically I had free reign from there. My piece is called Go, and you can see my "official" statement for it above.
Just drew this bear on the train. (Are you seeing the trend?) I'm working on an idea that will involve an ass-kicking teddy bear - and the character has to be capable, yet adorable. I don't want anything looking too stereotypically badass. So he's a start. But there's still a ways to go...
I'm slowly putting together an updated demo reel and I just found this little piece of motion graphics I did for IAC right before I left. It's crazy how many things I forgot I made! My external hard drives continue to surprise me... SO glad I back up everything.
I made this little character last month during a train ride back to the city from Wassaic. She is inspired by the daughter of a friend of mine, who yes, dresses this cool. And who also has a cat named Phoebe. Although Phoebe doesn't always look curious and innocent like this cat. On the contrary, Phoebe is known to stare at people with disgust and disapproval from long distances... such as me.
